Key Responsibilities

Model Development

Design, train, and validate machine learning models to detect HVAC components (e.g., ducts, elbows, reducers) in PDF-based schematics.

Apply state-of-the-art computer vision techniques using frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenCV, YOLO, or Detectron2.

Address challenges related to inconsistent image quality, symbol variation, and schematic complexity.

PDF Document Processing

Develop scalable pipelines for parsing and preprocessing PDF documents that contain vector and raster-based technical drawings.

Extract and structure relevant data for downstream tasks in estimation workflows.

Annotation Strategy and Oversight

Define data labeling guidelines for junior interns and oversee their annotation work.

Ensure high-quality labeled data by reviewing and validating annotations for accuracy and consistency.

Model Deployment and Integration

Collaborate with the development team to embed the trained model into a web-based tool that converts PDF inputs into structured Excel outputs.

Support testing and iterative improvements based on pilot feedback and usage data.

Required Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in AI/ML, particularly in image recognition and document analysis.
• Demonstrated experience working with real-world, noisy data environments.
• Strong proficiency in building and deploying computer vision models using Python-based ecosystems.
• Experience with document parsing and PDF processing techniques.
• Ability to lead and coordinate with junior team members on data preparation tasks.
• Clear and proactive communication skills.
• (Preferred) Domain experience in construction, mechanical engineering, or HVAC systems.

Duration: 2–3 months (part-time or full-time depending on your availability)

Team: You’ll be supported by 1–2 interns for data labeling
